Background and facts

If you see spots of blood on your sheets or notice bed bug feces or cast skins, you may have a bed bug infestation. Bed bugs are small but can be seen if you search carefully. You may spot them on:

  • Mattress, Bed frame, Bedside cupboards & Sofas
  • Ceiling and Wall Junctions
  • Loose Wallpaper
  • Baseboards, Mattress Seams and Personal Belongings

Mature bed bugs are the looks alike an apple seed and are reddish-brown, wingless and flat. Their bites can be misjudged for mosquito bites, which makes them so hard to diagnose. Bed bugs multiply quickly. In just six months, a few bugs can turn into a huge infestation of 13,000 or more.

Confirming the presence of a bed bug infestation can be quite difficult. Even if you, home remedies are often ineffective.

Impact

These troublesome household pests are fast, sneaky and hard to find but can pose a variety of health and nuisance risks. Bed bugs are breeding very fast, which is why you must get your bed bug problem addressed immediately. They do not transmit disease, but they do bite, which leads to allergies and itchy reactions.

Preventive measures

Inspect your suitcases outdoors before bringing them into the house after travelling.

Vacuum your suitcase thoroughly before storing it.

Launder and sun dry  all of your clothes – even  you have not been worn them.

Keep clothes that go to the laundry in a sealed bag until you transport them.

Once they enter, they’ll quickly make themselves at home and they are difficult to get rid of.
